My 5 Desert Island Recordings

If you lived on a desert island and you could only have 5 CD’s….what would those be? Here are the five I would choose:

Evans-Spring1. Bill Evans Trio- “You Must Believe in Spring” My absolute favorite Bill Evans CD. I learned 2 of my favorite tunes from this CD, B Minor Waltz and You Must Believe in Spring. A pivotal recording in my college years

Monty-Strikes-Again2. Monty Alexander Trio- “Monty Strikes Again” with Eberhard Weber and Kenny Clare. Simple one of the best versions of “Emily” I have ever heard.

Gene-Harris-Plus-One3. Gene Harris Trio- “Gene Harris Trio Plus One” – A major lesson in groove! Gene plays some of the greatest solos of blues I have ever heard!

Lee-Morgan-Procrastinator4. Lee Morgan- “The Procrastinator” Incredible compositions and monumental solos by Herbie Hancock.

Toots-Brazilian5. Toots Theileman’s “The Brazil Project” I love this album so much! A Love Supreme of great tunes and artists. Sexy as all get out!!

Which 5 recordings are your favorites?
